Easy Desk Ticker is a tiny application that allows you to have a rolling news bar wherever you want on your desktop. It takes news from RSS feeds, and on initial set up features feeds from CNN and BBC News to get you started. You can check the feeds you like, and past in new feeds from websites you like.

There are five quick settings for the Easy Desk Ticker, which can be chosen with one click, and there are more in-depth settings tabs where you can quite easily alter the size, color, font, place and speed etc at will. Once Desktop Ticker is running, clicking on a headline you like takes you to the full story in your default browser.

While this may not be as practical as searching your feeds with a reader, Easy Desk Ticker is a cool way to have the news running in the background. Having clickable headlines is also really useful, and makes this more than just a novelty application.

The presentation of Easy Desk Ticker is utilitarian, not pretty. However, we found it easy to use, with a good balance between being accessible and having deeper options.
